Tatarinov, German Alexeevich

German Alexeevich Tatarinov
was born on September 26, 1925 in the Village of the Old Crosses, Yaroslavl Province.

In 1961 Mr. Tatarinov graduated from the Moscow Printing Institute in the G. Epifanov workshop.  Mr. Tatarinov received rigorous training in landscape, still life, and figurative subjects.  He received public attention when he began participating in art exhibitions in 1964.  He was accepted as a member of the LCRAU (Leningrad Chapter of the Russian Federation Artists Union) in 1972.  Then, he was granted a personal exhibition in Leningrad in 1975.  He became an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 2000.

Today, Yaroslavl is a World Heritage Site, and one of the Golden Ring Cities.  The city lies about 160 miles Northeast of Moscow, where the mighty Volga and Kotorosl Rivers meet.  It remained a viable industrial center through the First World War, but struggled through the 1917 October Revolution, the Russian Civil War, the Second World War, and of course the continued changes in the latter part of the Twentieth Century.

Today in Yaroslavl, there are found beautiful remnants of architecture and culture unique to Old Russia.  The fertile countryside is passionately depicted in German Tatarinov’s strong and rich fields of green and gold, old growth forests, contrasted with delicate pink and yellow wildflowers.  The swaying wheat fields, the murky swamps alongside hot, steamy country roads are reminescent of the earth in all of its raw energy.  This productivity in Nature gave birth to Mr. Tatarinov’s own great momentum during a long life of painting.  Just to behold his solid but measured brush strokes gives us strength and confidence.  Painted during a turbulent time and place in history, Mr. Tatarinov’s artworks are infused with fortitude and character.  We will always find value in these characteristics, and therefore in his collectible paintings.
